LHM Engineering Invests in Lang RoboTrex Automation System, Bringing German Automation Technology to the U.S.

LHM Engineering is proud to announce a major investment in a Lang RoboTrex robotic automation cell, which will be paired with our Hermle C250 5-axis machining center. This cutting-edge system marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to increase capacity, efficiency, and consistency in precision manufacturing for the aerospace and medical device industries.

A First-of-Its-Kind Partnership

LHM Engineering is the first company in the United States to partner directly with Lang Technik to implement the fully German-built RoboTrex system. This collaboration underscores our commitment to adopting world-class automation. We are proud to partner with Lang on this groundbreaking project and extend our sincere thanks to the teams at Lang and Hermle for their support in making this investment possible.

Last month, we were honored to host Jon Dobosenski, General Manager of Lang USA, and Patrizio De Pinto, CEO of Lang GmbH, during his visit from Germany for a tour of our facility and to finalize the technical details of the installation.

Expanding Capacity and Technical Capabilities

Our RoboTrex system is configured with 60 vises, each capable of holding parts up to 120 × 120 × 100 mm. For larger components, the system can operate with 30 vises, allowing for significantly increased part size and flexibility.

This setup enables LHM to run both high-mix prototype work and longer production runs seamlessly, without the need for process changes or revalidations. The RoboTrex system automatically loads and unloads parts around the clock, naturally extending the lean, single-piece-flow workflows already in place at LHM.
